1506 Defense Highway Gambrills, MD 21054 301-261-3260 To My Fellow Elks: I attended the 144th Grand Lodge Convention in Anaheim, CA with two other Bowie members. It was an honor to be there for the installation of our Grand Exalted Ruler, Paul Helsel from MD, DE, DC Elks Association and the new Grand Lodge Officers. It was a very busy week as I attended each session and several other Exalted Ruler only functions. It was an experience I will never forget and we should all feel proud that the Grand Exalted Ruler is from our association. I would like to thank Gabriel and Audrey Rozzano for the donation of several American Flags that will be used to fly from our flag pole here at the lodge. On June 15th, Bowie Elks again held Flag Day ceremony at Allen Pond Park with music by the Bay Winds Music Group. Thanks to Diane Polangin, City Council Member who provided us with a Proclamation thanking us for the ceremony. Thanks to everyone who participated. On July 3rd Thirty Thursday our 50/50 raffle winner was Brian Svendsen from Florida who was gracious to donate his winnings to the lodge for our Drug Awareness program, thanks Brian. I would like to take this time to thank Gary Steen, Esteemed Leading Knight for handling the Funeral Ritual for Brother James Rosson on July 7 and for standing in for me at our Lodge Meeting July 8 while I was at the Grand Lodge Convention. Remember we always need volunteers to assist in all activities in the Lodge. Please help!!!! We need help for the Bull and Shrimp Roast on August 9th. We also need your support by attending Lodge functions and events. It is expensive to keep YOUR Lodge functioning so please join us. You may have noticed a collection can on the Quarter Book stand, this is for the Michael Manning National Veterans Program it is to support our returning soldiers. This was named after the last National Director of the Elks Veterans Service Commission who passed away recently. Please HELP support this campaign. Finally, please mark your calendar for September 20th as that is the night we are presenting Ronnie Dove, Nationally Known Singer for the 60s and 70s in concert.
